Activities of Banned Political Party Mostly Social Media-Based: DMP Commissioner

"These actions are part of a calculated social media strategy rather than organized street demonstrations", he added.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Mohammad Sajjat Ali has said that most of the activities of the banned political party are carried out through social media platforms.

On Thursday (23 October), Speaking to journalists at afternoon at the Hotel Sonargaon in the capital, the DMP commissioner noted that members of the group often travel to Dhaka from various cities across the country by night coaches(Bus). They stop at a certain spot, take a banner out of their pocket, display it briefly for half a minute or a minute, record a short video, and upload it to Facebook. As a result, people think that a big rally or procession has taken place.

DMP Commissioner added that these actions are part of a calculated social media strategy rather than organized street demonstrations.

He said, “Now, in this era of social media, social media is so strong that whenever something happens anywhere, it becomes viral very quickly. In this age of social media, technology has brought us to this stage. We have to accept that, and there is no reason to panic.”

Sazzat Ali also said, “One group, a banned organization, is throwing cocktails and trying to carry out acts of sabotage. They are trying to organize various processions in the city. Many arrests have also been made, and I think they even threw a cocktail at one place last night. We are always vigilant to ensure that no anti-state activities take place in the city.”
