Seven Government Colleges Confirms Peaceful Separation from Dhaka University

The long-standing affiliation between Dhaka University (DU) and the seven government colleges has officially come to an end. All responsibilities related to the colleges have now been formally handed over to the authorities of the proposed Dhaka Central University, completing the much-anticipated separation process.

On Thursday (August 14), at a ceremony held in the DU Vice-Chancellor’s office, the interim administration of Dhaka Central University received full administrative, academic, and financial responsibilities of the seven colleges. They also received detailed information regarding the admission process for the 2024–25 academic year, including applicants’ data, photographs, and admission test fees.

The handover was conducted by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan, who transferred the responsibilities to Professor A.K.M. Elias, interim administrator of the proposed Dhaka Central University.

The event was attended by DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmad, Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmad, members of the Online Admission Committee, other DU officials, and principals of the seven colleges.

Expressing gratitude, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan thanked everyone involved in the separation process and wished overall success for the proposed Dhaka Central University.
