A clash broke out between two groups of Jamaat-e-Islami in Rajshahi city on Wednesday evening following a disagreement over a motorcycle transaction, local sources said.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. at the Hetem Khan Museum intersection in the city.

According to witnesses, the conflict began when one party failed to provide necessary documents for a motorcycle, despite promising to do so later. The disagreement escalated from a verbal altercation into a physical confrontation.

The clash involved supporters of two local figures, Md. Mominul Islam Mona and Rashedul Hasan Parvez. Parvez is reportedly the general secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ward No. 9 unit under the Rajshahi City Corporation, while Mona is said to be affiliated with the opposing group of jamaat-e-islami.

Eyewitnesses said both sides engaged in scuffles and later hurled bricks at each other. The motorcycle at the center of the conflict was vandalized during the incident.

Local residents intervened and managed to bring the situation under control, after which members of both groups retreated to their respective areas.

Police from the Malopara outpost of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police visited the scene following the incident. Authorities said the situation is now calm.

No immediate reports of serious injuries or arrests were available.
