Bangladesh will take on Zimbabwe in a Twenty20 international in Bulawayo on July 19, the same day the FIFA World Cup final is scheduled at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) announced the full itinerary of Bangladesh’s multi-format tour on Friday, confirming one Test along with three One-Day Internationals and three T20 matches during the series.
The tour will begin with the lone Test in Harare on June 28. The ODI series will also be played in Harare between July 6 and July 11 before the teams move to Bulawayo for the T20 series from July 15 to July 19.
The series against Bangladesh will mark Zimbabwe’s first home assignment of the year. It will also be the team’s first international appearance since the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held in India and Sri Lanka earlier this year.
Zimbabwe enjoyed a memorable campaign in that tournament, reaching the Super Eight stage for the first time after securing victories over Australia and Sri Lanka.
ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni said the board was pleased to confirm Bangladesh’s tour and expected a competitive series across all three formats.
“We are delighted to confirm Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe and look forward to a highly competitive and exciting series across all formats,” Makoni said in a statement.
“This tour is hugely significant for us as international cricket returns to our home venues following our outstanding performances at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earlier this year,” he added.
