Bangladesh received remittances worth $2.127 billion in the first 19 days of April, equivalent to Tk 26,109 crore at an exchange rate of Tk 122.75 per US dollar, according to data released by the central bank on Sunday.

The inflow marks a positive trend, driven largely by expatriate Bangladeshis sending more funds ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, traditionally a peak period for remittance transfers.

Data from Bangladesh Bank showed that remittance inflows during this period rose by 23.8 percent compared with the same timeframe last year. In the first 19 days of April last year, remittances stood at $1.719 billion.

The upward momentum follows record inflows in recent months. In March, expatriates sent $3.755 billion, the highest ever recorded in a single month. In February, remittances totalled $3.02 billion.

For the current 2025–26 fiscal year, remittance inflows from July to April 19 reached $28.34 billion, up 20.6 percent from $23.50 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Officials expect the strong inflow trend to continue until Eid al-Adha.
