A 74-year-old woman has joined the women’s wing of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Chattogram, marking an unusual yet notable addition to the party’s grassroots ranks.

The woman, identified as Hafeza Khanam, enrolled in the NCP’s women’s wing, known as Narishakti, following a World Labour Day programme held on Friday in the city’s Agrabad area.

Speaking to the media, Khanam said she is a resident of Agrabad. She is currently retired and was previously a homemaker. Her husband has passed away.

She added that her son lives in the United States, while her daughter works as a teacher at Chattogram Commerce College.

Party officials did not immediately comment further on her joining, but her participation drew attention due to her age and background, highlighting the group’s outreach efforts across different segments of society.
