NCP Announces Mayoral Candidates for Five City Corporation Election

NCP unveils its mayoral candidates for five key city corporations, including Dhaka North and South, as preparations intensify ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

The National Citizens Party (NCP) has officially announced its mayoral candidates for the upcoming elections in five major city corporations, including Dhaka North and South.

The announcement was made on Sunday night during a press briefing held at the party’s central office. NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam revealed the names of the candidates on behalf of the party’s Local Government Election committee.

According to the list, NCP spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan will contest the mayoral race in Dhaka South City Corporation. For Dhaka North City Corporation, the party has nominated Senior Joint Convener Ariful Islam Adib.

In Cumilla City Corporation, Advocate Tarikul Islam, who serves as the convener of Jatiya Juboshokti, has been named as the party’s candidate. Meanwhile, Advocate Abdur Rahman Afzal, convener of NCP’s Sylhet metropolitan unit, will run in Sylhet City Corporation.

For Rajshahi City Corporation, the party has nominated Md. Mobashwer Ali, convener of the NCP Rajshahi metropolitan unit, as its mayoral candidate.

The party leadership expressed confidence that their nominees will present a strong challenge in the upcoming polls.
