‘Troimashik Chandanaish’ Unveiled in Chattogram

Speakers call for mega development projects and stronger accountability in Chandanaish

The unveiling ceremony of the publication “Troimashik Chandanaish (Quarterly Magazine)” and a dialogue session was held on Saturday ( April 4) afternoon at the Chattogram District Shilpakala Academy.

The event was organized by Civil Society-Chattogram and chaired by Engineer Arif Mahmud. The programme was jointly conducted by Editor of Troimashik Chandanaish, Jamir Uddin, and Civil Society-Chattogram’s Spokesperson Tanvir Ahmed Siddiqui.

Addressing the event, speakers portrayed Chandanaish upazila’s sustainable development prospects and stressed the need for government-led mega development initiatives in the area.

They said that agricultural expansion and technical training could significantly improve the livelihoods of local residents.

The speakers also emphasized their role as a pressure group to ensure accountability of government offices and departments in Chandanaish.

They further noted that Troimashik Chandanaish would be considered successful only if its reports contribute to solving real-life problems of the people. They said the publication would regularly address issues such as neglect, corruption and local crises, and seek practical solutions through factual reporting every three months.

Among those who were present at the event were Prof. M.A. Gafur, former Chairman of the Department of Botany, University of Chittagong; poet and playwright Abhik Usman, Director of the Theatre Institute; M. Aminul Islam, Managing Director of United Corporation; M.A. Hashem, Director of Metropolitan Medical; Mir Jamil Akhtar, former Engineering Manager of BTV; Abu Taleb Belal, Principal of Aparnacharan City Corporation Girls’ High School and College; Mohammad Zainul Alam, Senior Vice-President of the Dohazari Citizens Committee; Delwar Hossain, President of the Chandanaish Press Club; Ekram Hossain, former DGM of Bangladesh Bank; Noman Ullah Bahar, President of the SDG Youth Forum; Mohammad Saifuddin (Hiru), Joint Convener of Chandanaish Civil Society; Mahiyuddin Kader, Editor of Shankhatir; and assistant editors of Troimashik Chandanaish, Khan Ayub; Asibur Rahman Asif, Ayaz Ahmed Fahim, Touhidul Islam, Fakhrul Islam and Rashedul Islam.

The programme concluded with the formal unveiling of Troimashik Chandanaish, with organizers expressing hope for continued support and the overall development and well-being of Chandanaish.
